4 Coffee Talks on “An Over-Reaching Government”

  1. Kelly says:

While I am for as little government interventioninterference as possible, I did come across this: http://betterbaking.com/viewArticle.php?article_i… – from someone who earns a living off the internet. I have not read much about this debate but was wondering if it would affect anyone who posts something online and earns money? She is a baker from Canada and put this out to her subscribers today. Any thoughts?

  2. Elizabeth says:

Thank you so much for posting this. I am an activist and SOPA, NDAA, and the American Expatriation act threaten my ability to give friends and family accurate information regarding governmental and corporate corruption worldwide. I have already had people threaten me, and I only post things published in mainstream media, nothing fringe or even leaked. It is sad this is happening.

  3. Elizabeth says:

@Kelly yes anyone in e commerce of any kind will have their livelihood potentially threatened by Sopa, pipa and NCAA. The reason being is that we will have much stricter means of communication. It would not hit ecommercd folks as quickly as bloggers/writers/journalists but it will eventually limit who and where they can do business, and in what means. If the e store is using say twitter as their main means of promotion, and twitter gets attacked by the gov for any reason they choose, then that stores main means of marketing diminish.

  4. anonymous says:

Obama just signed the ACTA ( Anti Counterfeiting Trade Agreement) which has the same potential as both SOPA and PIPA. SOme actually believe it is worse. The House bypassed the senate on it. Here are two articles on the subject for anyone interested:

Speaking of an out of control government, pro Hockey player Tim Thomson refused a press trip to the White House. His reason?
"I believe the Federal government has grown out of control, threatening the Rights, Liberties, and Property of the People. This is being done at the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial level. This is in direct opposition to the Constitution and the Founding Fathers vision for the Federal government.

Because I believe this, today I exercised my right as a Free Citizen, and did not visit the White House. This was not about politics or party, as in my opinion both parties are responsible for the situation we are in as a country. This was about a choice I had to make as an INDIVIDUAL. '
