Remember {for those who have a hard time with certain people during the holidays}
Remember.
If you know the King,
you worship at a throne of Grace. You worship the God who is all-powerful and has all authority in heaven and on earth. You worship the God who is the only one who can tell you who you are. Listen to the truth.
This holiday season, stand in truth and walk in the confidence of your position as a child of God. If you feel anxious or defensive or angry around certain people this time of year, hold tight to your identity in Christ, and ask God to help you love and see people how He does.
Maybe you need to carve out a moment of still to ask God how He sees you.

Yes, as a matter of fact I do need a moment of still. There are people I am dreading being around because I feel so uncomfortable and definitely defensive. I try to focus on how I can be a light for them, even as they are putting me down, instead of being so focused on how hurt I am. Needed this today :)

True this time of the year does bring friction to many!!!! But we need to focus on the Lord's birth, the one that came to die and suffer for us. Keeping our eyes on Him and enjoying all the blessing He as freely given us, and yes that means beautiful gift for us to enjoy!

thank you.
We sadly are having some issues with one set of the parents this year and am very disappointed and hurt by their actions. We are all sinners and fail time and time again, that I must remember but am praying for God to change and soften my heart this season towards them.

Thank you…much needed words right now.
I'm in this boat too and it seems that the holidays magnify it.
As I wrote this past Monday on my blog, there is no other day through the year that Jesus' name is lifted higher. God's arch enemy does not like this and I truly believe that there is a spiritual battle during this season that we do not see. He does not want us to have peace and joy – he wants us frazzled, frustrated and miserable! We must have on our full armor – our helmet of Salvation (that's knowing who we are – we are God's child!), our belt of truth, breastplate of righteousness, feet fitted with peace, the sword of the Spirit and "the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one."
Keep walking with the King!

So needed right now… as we are having "Christmas" with extended family tonight. Hurt creates hurt, which creates hurt… I just want to be free from it. This is a tough process… but it is shaping me, helping me. I ramble, but just wanted to put type to thoughts for a moment.
I really needed this reminder…thank you!!!

I needed to hear this today. Just got a package from my mom in the mail that brought up some junk.

Mrs. Sarah Mae,
I have been having a hard time being joyful in this season because there are some issues in my family and it really hurts my heart but recently I have been asking God to help me find joy in the season. he has been. But as I soon will be with them Thank you for these words because they can say things that are very hurtful and I can come back being defensive or angry. That I respond to them because I feel really hurt in a way that is wrong not with grace and truth. So thanks for the reminder. Merry Christmas
N.
I needed this post, Sarah Mae, not because I will spend time or even see the person who triggers my anxiety, but because I need to think of him the way the Lord sees him. As His child. As difficult as that will be for me now, it's what got me through Mom's last few days and the days following her death. I know I will have to have communication with him at some point in the future, and I just have to keep reminding myself that he is His child, too, just to make it without saying what my flesh wants to. Thank you for helping me do that.

I, too, needed to hear this today. My mom and I have such a tentative relationship and my flesh can be so quick to strike out with a curt remark or even cold body language. I am going to pray that I see Jesus when I look at her this year…thanks Sarah Mae!
Ahh…so very perfect. Something I will need to remember when I am visiting my in-laws…:) So very true – He loves us all right where we are and we must extend the grace He gives us to others as well.
Thank you for this!

I wish I had read this before I spouted off a few of my opinions. I have such a hard time keeping my mouth shut when I feel like something is wrong. I think to myself, "I wish they would respect my decision to stay home and "not use my degree"". But in reality, I don't give them the same respect for choosing to do what they think is best for their family. Thanks for reminding me that we are all in need of God's amazing grace. If I have nothing else in common with certain folks, at least we have a common Savior!!!
