Depth (and living what you preach)

You will never be a long-standing speaker/writer/etc. without depth.

Without first living the content before relaying it.

We must discipline ourselves now in where we are called by God so that one day…one day we can share from experience.  What we women need now desperately are those women who have lived it.  Women who have made the sacrifices, gave their lives to the One, brought up their children with their time and intention, persevered through the tough, hung onto their marriages, and were faithful…and continue to be faithful.

I want to be one of those women.

And as Sally Clarkson told me today, “it’s tough to be a visionary in the mundane.”

Yep, it is.  But it is in the “mundane” of the everyday with my small babes and my man that God is sharpening me and refining my character.

Gently molding me to be more like Jesus.

Preparing me for the vision in my heart that I believe He planted, but isn’t quite ready to bloom.

And one day friends, I hope to open up to reveal a mature woman that is able to inspire women to the very things God sustained me in His mercy to do…the very things that by my very selfish nature I could never do without Him, and will never do without Him.

The mundane things, that are really the eternal things.

And friends,

without Him and His Word engulfing our souls, there can never be true depth. We must make time to be filled by Him.

We must.

Loving your words tonight! So true – especially this: "the mundane things are really the eternal things." I think I need to put that on my fridge – what a reminder!

  3. Finding the extraordinary in the mundane is where God has me for this season. He is using the seemingly ordinary and mundane to shape me closer to the image of His Son!

Amen! I just wrote about this: http://ordinaryinspirations.blogspot.com/2010/09/…

I have been contemplating this a lot. If we truly want to make a difference in other women's lives, we need to be LIVING in our daily life. We can't go to paper and put there what we wish we'd live. People won't buy it. True inspiration comes from the LIVED OUT / FLESHED OUT Christian living!

    Thanks Sarah Mae!

  7. Karen says:

You already do have depth: You give to us on this blog from what God has already taught you. It is not yet as deep a well to draw from as, say, Catherine Marshall or Elisabeth Elliot, not many of us do. But you are on your way, His way for you. If going deeper is your heart's desire, God will lead you there.

Every Christian has a testimony of God's love, faithfulness, grace, and mercy. We need to be able, ready, and willing to articulate that whenever and to whomever God leads us. However "deep" or shallow it may seem to us, just a few words may be what God uses in someone's heart to bring her to Himself!

  8. I have been through what you are going through right now. I raised three sons who are now adults that I am proud of. They are hard working, honest, kind men. Two are married. One has 2 sons. The youngest is 26 and not married yet.

It was a struggle but so worth the time in the mundane. The time was and is such a blessing. The time with God so necessary.

From an authentic heart to another heart who desires the same. In Humbly sharing a message…. you speak to hearts. I hear this spoken in my heart, these words, as I go about my days and our lives here in this home. I loved reading these thoughtful, hearty words. smiles, Angelia in TX

  11. Leah says:

It is so true that we will not be able to feed/ disciple others, which is our christian duty, if we are not feeding ourselves from the bread of life! I am trying to make this more of a priority, as I know that I am just not close to the Lord like I could be when I don't take the time to sit with him in the word. There really is no other place that comes close to matching the kind of joy that comes from His presence!

Thanks for stopping by! I look forward to reading more on your blog, the purpose is like so many close to my heart. Depth, conviction & demonstration of that conviction through action of what we believe makes all the difference.

Be blessed today & I hope to stop by again real soon- :)
