Want to Read a Book with Me?

The Mission of Motherhood: Touching Your Child’s Heart for Eternity

Here is a little bit about the book (from Publisher’s description):

“…it has been on Sally’s heart to write a book that will draw mother’s back to God’s original design for motherhood and the home…Sally moves beyond inspiration and encouragement, to instruction, vision and mission as she explores the biblical design of God for mothers that transcends cultures and trends. Drawing on challenging insights from Scripture enlightened by her own experiences as a mother for 18 years, Sally draws a biblical and very personal portrait of motherhood that reveals the heart of God for all mothers of all times. This book, filled with personal anecdotes and stories, will refresh your vision for biblical motherhood, renew your commitment to your precious children, and prayerfully bring the reviving Spirit of God into your home and family.”

I have not yet read this book, so it will be fresh for me.  What do you think? Want to book club it together?

Maybe in The Coffee Talk Community?

Thoughts? Would you be in?

  5. This was the first book I ever read by Sally (about 4 years ago) and I fell in love with her!! She speaks my heart!

Something I still do that I learned in her book is tell "Joy Stories". (she writes about them on the very first page of the book and I immediately started applying it!) My daughter's middle name is joy – so I tell Alexis "joy" stories where she brings joy to the world! She LOVES them and always begs me to tell more. (I also tell spin-off stories for my son called "Alexender the Great – Hero" stories – stories where he is the hero for Jesus – he loves them too!)

I'm in – I'd love to read read it with you – I'm sure it will speak to new places in parenting as we are in a new season of life.

  20. How circular the blog world is. I found "Raising Homemakers" and and was reading Simply Vintage Girl and they referenced you! I said out loud, "hey! i read her too!".

    Anyways…

I love this book. It changed my life in many ways and confirmed my VERY difficult choice to quit my job at our church 7 months after my daughter was born. I had worked there for 6 years and was the Director of Children's Ministries. I loved it there. Loved my job. Adored it, really. It was so hard, but this book shed so much light on why it was such an important choice. It made me realize how important my job as a mother was. Amazing.

  21. Grace says:

All of Sally Clarkson's books are a must read. If you ever have a chance to attend her conferences……..GO! Or if she is speaking at your homeschool conference……GO! She is so approachable and really has the pulse of where our hearts should be. Her daughter, Sarah Clarkson, also published a book called "Read for the Heart." Fabulous.
