I have to give my super sweet, wonderful Aunt Vikki credit for this one! She brings me a batch of these delightful cookies almost every time she comes visiting, and let me tell you, she is one No Bake Cookie extraordinaire! So, I would like to pass along this healthy (hey, it has oats in it!) chocolate, easy, amazingly delicious cookie recipe on to you. Enjoy!

First things first – the ingredient list:

1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. cocoa
1/4 c. margerine
1/2 c. milk
3/4 c. peanut butter (creamy)
1 tsp. vanilla
3 1/2 -4 c. oats

Okay, here we go…

1. Bring the sugar, cocoa, margarine and milk to a boil. Stir continually and boil for about four minutes (don’t boil too much longer or you will end up with a bunch of crumbs when all is said and done!)
2. Remove from heat and immediately add the peanut butter.
3. While mixing, add the vanilla, then add the oats one cup at a time.
4. Put spoonfuls on long sheets of wax paper (you can dip your spoon in water between each scoop to help). Let them sit for a couple of hours until they harden (or you can put them in the fridge for faster “hardening” time.
Eat up! And remember, they’re healthy, really, they are! ;)

  13. Kristine says:

We called them “Moondrops”. My mother used to make these when we lived in Florida (minus the pb), but when we moved to Michigan they would not set right. Now, I can’t eat oats so I can only dream about them.

  19. Tyra says:

I love these! We always just called them ‘chocolate oatmeal cookies’, but it’s the same type of recipe. The funny thing is with all of our family’s allergies I did tweak it to be more healthy! I substitute agave nectar or turbinado sugar so it isn’t refined, use organic butter and milk, natural peanut butter or even sunflower butter for those allergic to peanuts, vanilla flavoring(without corn syrup) and organic whole oats. It’s still tastes great and really does make a snack that isn’t all that unhealthy if you eat them occasionally! :-)
Okay, this pregnant lady now has a craving so I might just go make some and see if I can keep them down!

  23. I Love Love Love No-Bake Cookies! Your recipe is just like the one passed down to me from my mom. I have tried many times to make them, but they just never turn out like a ‘cookie’. I get a goo-ey, but oh-so-wonderful-tasting mess! :)

These have always been one of my all time favorite cookies. They used to make them in my elementary school and my mom snagged the recipe from the school (then cut it down to a manageable size). Another variation is to leave out the cocoa and have PB no bakes……..my fave….mmmmmmmmm! :)

  27. Barbie says:

Oh my mother made these for us all the time when I was growing up. We called them “candy cookies”. They are so easy and so good!

Sarah Mae – you actually can make these healthier – probably still not healthy, though! Ha! Replace peanut butter with a nut butter. I have used either almond or cashew, use real butter, and cut the sugar down. {grin} One of my childhood favorites is these “no bakes” that you shared!
