My Next 30 Years

February 8th, 2010

I have no idea what to write about today…but shouldn’t I write something about turning 30?

Suggestions?

No Coffee Talks on “My Next 30 Years”

  1. Happy Birthday, Sarah Mae!

How about how your life is different from what you thought it would be at this age.

  2. TeriLynneU says:

Well, from your type-A friend, I’d of course make a list of what I planned, dreamed, and desired for the next thirty years. (Oh wait, I did that when I turned 30 … EIGHT YEARS AGO!) But, you, my sweet, I imagine you’d be much happier spending the day laughing with your children, peeking on projects in process, dreaming of what you can start next, and encouraging others to remember the brevity of life and the importance of making each day count.

Happy Birthday! I think the 30s are my favorite years so far! You’ll love them!

  4. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! My 30th is this year, too.

You could write a post about what you would like to look back on 30 years from now!

Or, just bake yourself a birthday cake and take pictures of yourself and your children eating it in the messiest possible ways.

And then pictures of them cleaning it up for Mom on her birthday. :)

  5. Brooke Clarke says:

Happy birthday! 30 wasn’t so bad for me…I think 40 is going to be the kicker! Enjoy today.

  6. Kristen says:

Write whatever you feel. Or don’t. If you do I’m sure it will be beautiful…and if you don’t…well, that’s your prerogative. ;-D

  7. Life in Grace did a cool thing, she made a 40 in 40 list of things she wanted to do, then made a picture out of 40 titles. I’m not making it sound as cool as it actually is…

  8. Happy Birthday! Wow – you have accomplished a lot in your 20’s – marriage, 3 children, an amazing ministry!!! I can only imagine what God has in store for your 30’s!!! I wish you ALL the best!

I wrote a blog post on my birthday last year about the strong temptation women face on our birthdays to be selfish – for some reason we feel justified to be selfish on our birthdays – like the Bible has an exception clause for this case or something haha!!! Here’s the post: http://womenlivingwell-courtney.blogspot.com/2009/08/happy-birthday-to-me.html

Anyway, Enjoy your day – I hope it is very special – but if it isn’t – don’t be discouraged – your day will be happiest if you live it like all your other days – selflessly!!! You are a blessing Sarah Mae!

Happy Birthday! I hope your day is fantastic and memorable! I wasn’t sure what to write about turning 30 a few days either. Mostly I am excited about being 30. I did a lot in my 20s that am proud of and I can’t wait to keep going!

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

  12. Grandfather says:

How about writing something for your poor Father, who isn’t NEARLY old enough to have a 30 year old Daughter. (Even though your Mother certainly is) LOL! Remember, I was only 12 when you were made…

I must say, raising the worlds most beautiful Daughter was a pleasure, and I wouldn’t have missed a minute of it. Well, maybe one or two minutes, but that’s all. Darling, you have made my life worth living, and for that I THANK YOU!

Happy birthday sweetheart, I wish I could be there.

    All my love, Dad

  13. SarahMae says:

Well, why don’t you just make me cry dad! Thank you! I love you to pieces!!!!!!!!!!! (old fart) ;)

  14. Heather says:

Happy Birthday! I’m one year, 9 days behind you ;) You could do a “bucket list,” or write a letter to yourself 30 years in the future. Or compare/contrast what you thought you would be doing with what you are doing.
Or just don’t write anything and enjoy your special day!

  17. Joy says:

What is one thing that you can recall from the last ten years, going from your 20’s to 30’s that has had a major impact on who you are today. Any difference from 10 years ago?

    Happy Birthday!

  18. Joy says:

What a sweet Dad you have.

I also love the old fart comment, that’s my kind of humor! :)

  19. Jenny says:

  23. Happy Birthday Sarah Mae! Have a wonderful milestone 30th birthday! :)

You need to do nothing more than enjoy the day!

For my last milestone birthday, I wrote a list of the Top things I wanted to do in that upcoming year. If you’re type-A like me you could write a list of the Top 30 things you’d like to accomplish at age 30. Somehow doing this could become exhausting by age 80! LOL

BAHAHAHAHAHA! I just read the conversation between you and your dad!

As I recall, I spent my thirtieth birthday (ahem…9 1/2 years ago, but who’s counting?) with friends and my 8 month old baby boy. Pure bliss.

  27. Robin says:

    Happy Birthday Dear!

What to write about? How about the beauty of growing older in not only years, but in your Christian walk. The loving sanctifying work of the Lord and with a look to the future of the hope of all that He will accomplish in your life, and in your family.

I am very proud of you too.

    With love,

    Happy Birthday to You,
    Happy Birthday to You,
Happy Birthday Sarah Mae, my internet friend whom I admire and adore,
    Happy Birthday to You.

Girl, I’m 10 years ahead of you. Oh, I sprouted more gray hairs… Sign of wisdom, you know. =)

Is turning 30 that big of a deal to you? Share what’s on your heart. About life – love – family. It’s not a requirement to memorialize your 30th birthday… Although I threw myself a big ol’ party I did. And my friends blessed me with a cake in the shape of a big tombstone. Some friends…

Hope your day was brilliant and special and lovely.

  30. Happy Birthday :) I suppose if you feel that turning 30 is a particular milestone then you could write something. Honestly, my 30’s weren’t the best time of my life. Now the 40’s have been awesome! Truly the most important thing to remember is what a gift life is…so make this day (and this decade) special!

  31. Mrs. Hewett says:

    Happy Birthday!

If you really want to write something to celebrate, what about 30 things you’ve learned in your 30 years? Or 30 things that helped make you the person you are today? Or 30 goals/dreams you have for the next 30 years of your life? That’s three ideas – a tenth of your age – will they help? Anyway, I really hope you have a great birthday. Welcome to the 30-somethings!

    Blessings,

    Mrs. H

  32. Sarah A says:

I was just thinking about this recently because my big 3-0 is in 3 months. How about a 30 things you are thankful for for each year you have been alive? I’m not sure what you could remember from early years, but you are creative and can think of something!
    Happy Birthday!

  33. Happy Birthday :)I freaked out when I turned 30 because I didn’t have a list of things that I wanted to accomplish by that time! I’m 32 now, and have a Tazzini List (Coffee Cup List – it’s a smaller list than a Bucket List. I made up the term!) of things I want to accomplish this year. Create a list of fun stuff that you’ve never done before!

Happy Birthday, a few days late. I hope with all this snow, you’ve had a great excuse to do NOTHING and sit back and relax with some coffee and reflect on the last 30 years, all the ways God has blessed you and lead you to where you are! Hope your birthday was great, welcome to the 30’s!
