It is in the Details…

“I am perfectly convinced that whatever the gospels are they are not legends. I have read a great deal of legend and I am quite clear they are not that sort of thing….Christ bent down and scribbled in the dust with His finger. Nothing comes of this. No one has based any doctrine on it. And the act of inventing little irrelevant details to make an imaginary scene more convincing is purely a modern art.”

What a great CS Lewis quote. I've never heard this one before. It definitely settles questions some have about New Testament events. Now if only everyone would believe that Jonah really was in the belly of a whale.

When a former atheist is so convinced that the gospel is TRUTH, whew! Can you imagine the song the angels sing? And the rage our enemy must have felt…

And to pick my absolutely most favorite thing Christ ever did (outside of giving His life for me) I am so moved by this thought. The Lord of the Universe drawing in the dust of the ground… Forgiving a fallen woman and rightly shaming her self-appointed judges.

    My Hero.

I have just started reading “The Chronicles of Narnia.” I know, I know…I’m so ahead of the game. But I supposed that if my child was already on the last of the seven books, I probably should read them, too. :D

C.S. Lewis has so many thought provoking quotes throughout his fiction AND non-fiction…I have wanted to read The Great Divorce but just haven’t yet. Maybe I should start with it and leave the fiction for later!
