Can I have that on a wall print – all of it? The picture, the quotation? Maybe on a Tshirt or Apron or Sweatshirt. Something different for every day of the week to REMIND ME of my purpose when I need it. I'm so ashamed at times of my ridiculous desire to be "noticed" for my efforts. Blech! Being a humble servant – washing the feet of the ones who "follow me" – goes against my natural bent for the spotlight. But more and more I see that picture of Jesus kneeling before the feet of the men who would deny Him in His moment of greatest need, tenderly and lovingly washing and caring for their feet…

Sarah, do you read my mind? I had to confess to God this week that “I just want to be famous! I want to do something that people will notice!!!!!” It’s such a struggle sometimes, to fight the urge to want to be MORE than “just” a mom or “just” a servant. Thankfully God is patient.

I'm reminded of the verse found in Jeremiah 45:5 which says "Seek Great things for thyself, seek them not."

Back in 1993, I met my hero Elizabeth Elliot (missionary to the Auca indians – her husband was murdered by them but she returned to the tribe and led them to the Lord! Amazing!). We were talking about ministry and she said Jeremiah 45:5 to me…forever God has engrained those words on my heart.

We must lead a crucified life throwing all the desires for greatness to the winds as we serve our master and Lord. But Satan still whispers in our ear…you wanna be "somebody". But I am a nobody and God loves this nobody – he does not love me because I am something – being a godly wife, mom and homemaker is enough.

Elizabeth Elliot said "when you see the wounds in his hands – nothing you have done will seem enough." So we add to our homemaking – touching other's lives outside of our home. And we guard against the temptation to "seek great things for thyself. Seek them not".
