Good Habits

“The mother who takes pains to endow her children with good habits secures for herself smooth and easy days; while she who lets their habits take care of themselves has a weary life of endless friction with the children. All day she is crying out, ‘Do this!’ and they do it not; ‘Do that!’ and they do the other. ‘But,’ you say, ‘if habit is so powerful, whether to hinder or to help the child, it is fatiguing to think of all the habits the poor mother must attend to. Is she never to be at ease with her children?”

Thanks for referencing the website you got the quote from but I WOULD DEARLY LOVE to know what books these quotes come from!! Any clues? … anyone? …

This is a wierd comment, but whenever I try to read your blog, your header comes up TWO times and covers your blog. If it is a short blog, I can't read any of it. If it is a long one, I can only read the part that isn't covered up with the two chocolate brown headers holding a cup of coffee. Are any of you other readers having this problem? It doesn't happen with any other blog I read, so I honestly can't figure out if it is me or your blog. I'm not a computer wizard. Would love to know if anybody has an answer for me….

Momma Mindy and anyone else seeing two headers on my blog…

Click on “Compatibility View” (an icon right after the URL that looks like a piece of paper ripped in half) and that should fix it immediately. It’s an Internet Explorer (IE) issue (seriously, why are you still on IE anyway? Firefox baby!).

  5. Shannon says:

Great post! Thanks for all the links and excerpts! We can all use some discipline solutions. It is hard to admit, but I believe that USUALLY the problems start with the parents… our own self-discipline, the way we handle ourselves, our follow-through and consistencey….. I have to admit that the current discipline problems that I am having with my kids are behaviours that they have learned from me and my husband. Arggghhh!… and that is the reason those issues are the hardest to fix because we have to fix ourselves, too!
