Friends, I Need Your Help (Quotes For Relevant Conference)
I need some great quotes for why you would like to attend Relevant/why you are anticipating Relevant, the Christian women’s blogging conference. I really, super duper appreciate your feedback!
Here is the Relevant mission statement (so far):
The Relevant Conference exists to offer a place of face to face interaction with Christian women bloggers who want to be relevant in the larger blog and social media world. Our goal is to go beyond the surface into intentional blogging and real life living. We support women turning their hearts toward home and using their blogs to further their families first, and then the world for the glory of God. Relevant is a one-of-a-kind conference that seeks to engage women by teaching blogging techniques and social media skill while also urging and encouraging women to live fully integrated lives with their faith and family.
(It’s basically a big fun slumber party where we all learn from awesome Chrisitan women bloggers while also encouraging one another!) :)
Go! (and, thank you!)

Here's what I wrote on Twitter…
I could learn a lot from fascinating female writers that share my love of God & I need to quench my thirsty writer's soul.
Hmmm…let me see if I can think of another idea or two …
Conferences like Relevant provide a wonderful opportunity for newer and smaller bloggers to gain insight and wisdom from those who are a little further along the path.
Building "real life" relationships with those we've come to love via the internet.
Putting faces and voices to words and sentiments!!

Not thinking anything I can say would make a good quote. BUT…LOL It sounds like a lot of fun. I'd really like to join in if only to be surrounded by other women believers and the learning would just be a bonus! I like the part "We support women turning their hearts toward home and using their blogs to further their families first, and then the world for the glory of God." because this has always been my goal with my blog but honestly struggle at times!
What are the details for this?! Who, what, where, when?! :)

As a fairly new blogger I'm finding that I have huge passion but itty bitty knowledge when it comes to the blog world. Learning as I go is a legitimate way to make it in this world, but OH the GLORY of a conference led by women who have been there before me and are eager to share not only their knowledge of blogging but also their knowledge of Christ. I can't think of anything better :-)
Oh my word! There is SO MUCH chatter on twitter about blogging conferences and how to "get yourself out there" and all that. I've not really ever been interested in anything like that. I DO want my family to be my priority and if blogging and all the trappings that come with it have to go, then I want to be encouraged to let it go, not pursue it even more.
This conference sounds different. It sounds like a spiritual encouragement for women who also happen to be computer-savvy. Not a conference for computer-savvy women who also happen to be Christian.
Sounds wonderful!
I could give you some scriptures but I must tell you that the BEST conferences I have attended were designed by a group of women with one purpose, sitting at the feet of Jesus. I have attended retreat after retreat where the women that God directed our pastor's wife to speak, were obedient to just spend time with the Lord and seek Him for thier topic and God was SO FAITHFUL to interweave all their topics for His glory. I KNOW for a fact that if you sit down with Him and ask for His design for this retreat, He will not only give you THE PERFECT one to base the weekend on, but many more that you will pepper throughout the time. Only He knows what will touch the lives and hearts of those that will be in attendance! Will be praying for you to hear from Him! God Bless!

Encouragement, inspiration, and networking. Get this and more at the Relevant Conference.
It's the Christian women online who have shown me the humor, joy, and holiness that is so often sunk under a pile of dirty dishes in my kitchen sink. Their perspective on motherhood has helped me unearth the beauty from beneath the layers of laundry, discarded toys, hot air humidifiers, and diapers.
Motherhood. Some days you squint as it barrels your direction. But amazingly, wonderfully, courageously you spread your arms anyway. That's something special. And whether on line or in person. There’s magic in the sharing.

I LOVE the idea of a Christian blogging conference. I think my biggest struggle with blogging (aside from time management!!) is staying focused on making God's name great, not making myself look great. So much of what secular "blogging wisdom" tells us revolves around glorifying ourselves… and I just don't think that works for believers who are serious about honoring Christ.
I'm SO excited about the opportunity to network and talk with other bloggers who are passionate about using their blogs as a platform for ministry! What potential to touch thousands of lives between the readers of all of these blogs!!

This is the first blogging conference I've really been interested in attending – I don't see how I fit into the other conferences, or how other conferences fit into my life. But the value and encouragement I see being developed for Relevant – there is eternal value there! "We support women turning their hearts toward home and using their blogs to further their families first, and then the world for the glory of God." This is what the blogging world is for me.
In this world of self promotion, the line between hobby and obsession can become blurry. What began as a digital diary and connecting with friends, has become the pressure of "keeping up with the Jones'". As a Christian woman, finding Godliness in this networking web is difficult. RELEVANT is a place to be challenged and encouraged to excel while keeping your priorities straight.
A conference to show Christian women how to glorify God and share the Good News of Jesus Christ as naturally as they write about their children, their dinner plans and their homes. That would be Relevant.

I find what Megan says to be very important.
If a woman is looking at a conference as a way to get HERSELF out there, that's pretty icky. If she is looking for others to connect with, who will hold her accountable and inspire her to be a Godly mother, then that is wonderful.
It's basically a retreat, with send buttons.
I think anyone who organizes such a conference has their hands full and I wish you the best.
The responsibility is enormous—empowering Christian women to use these mighty tools to better their families is a noble calling, but one that can be easy to derail if it slips too much into the promotional aspects, swag bag grabs, and cliquish behavior. That's one reason I am leery of conferences in general, so when I read the "mission statement" of sorts you propose, I am optimistic.
I've only been blogging for a year, and I've noticed it's so easy to lose focus. As a Christian woman, I want everything I do to glorify God, including my blog. But when I know people are reading who don't believe, I find myself leaving out parts about my faith so they'll feel comfortable. I don't ever want to compromise who I am in anything I do.

How to put into words why I'm looking forward to it (I really hope to get to go!)…hmm…reading other Christian bloggers has made me realize that my view of Christianity is not all-encompassing. Since I started blogging I have learned so much….SO. MUCH. from Christian women from around the country that puts a different perspective on things that I wouldn't see in my little comfortable corner of the world. Being able to meet some of these women and just sit and learn from them (ahem, YOU)…I would be in high school all over again. Insecure about my abilities but wanting oh-so-much to be included.

At my church we've been doing a series on growth through spiritual disciplines. Two of them tie in so well with blogging and the Relevant Conference, they are journaling and telling your story. Our stories are what connect us to one another. We are all unique, but we have common threads that intertwine with the stories of others. This is what makes us relevant in the larger social media world. People are searching for the hope we have to offer through Christ and it is our stories that will connect with them.
I live in an area that is extremely broken where less then 10% of the population even professes a faith and even less of that 10% profess Christ as their savior. I would love to be around other women who share my passion and love for Christ along with my love of the blogging world!

What you stated in your post brings to mind: (Proverbs 14:1a) "The wise woman builds her house."
In the past when I would read this scripture I always looked at the wise woman building her house in one way: being home. In my praying over my blogging and my desire to take this beyond what I'd planned… I've started asking God, "if it's okay? Is it okay if I venture out here now…is it okay if I do this or do that?" I was really feeling guilt for wanting to do more (I've been at home for 15 years). Before in His way when I would venture off; God would always gently ease me back to where I was supposed to be and tell me, "Not yet daughter; it's not your season yet." However, more recently I've begun to ask this question again, and during one of my devotions He led me to the verse above. My stomach droped b/c I thought, again, He's getting ready to tell me now yet. This time though He led me to: Matthew Henry's Commentary and it reads (I've added a little of my own, but I think you can get the idea)A good wife is a great blessing to a family. By a fruitful wife a family is multiplied and replenished with children, and so built up. But a prudent wife, one that is industrious and considers the affairs of the family are made to prosper. Debits are paid. Provisions are raised. Provisions are made. The children are well-educated and maintained, and the family has comfort within their doors and they have credit without. Thus her house is built.
Blogging and social media is our way of the world now. It's how some of us will make and are making our provisions. In us doing what we do w/blogging and social media we are being "prudent;" we're paying debts, making provisions, and we're education our children (homeschooling), etc. So I would say we are being women of Proverbs 14:1a We're being wise in building our house through social media.
That's my take anyway.
Oh, I don't know if I answered your question b/c it will teach me how to be prudent in building my home in the 21st Century.
I am a newbie at blogging, I still haven't found my niche in this world. I know the blogs I love and know there is a place for me. I do aim to encourage and lift up women. By the Holy Spirit and modern technology, we are able to reach so many women, while sitting in our pajamas…
Blogging has opened up a new medium for sharing the love of Jesus with others. I love that both Christians and non Christians visit Heart Choices. As I share about chosing to make healthier life choices, I can't help but be who I am; a follower and disciple of Jesus Christ. But I invite ALL to visit and comment as long as they are respectful. I've often received messages from non Christians saying that I gave them something to think about. And I praise God for that as I desire to glorify Him.
As I work from home online, I don't get out much. I love the encouragement and new relationships I build with my blogging sisters. We pray for one another and that is such a blessing.
Blogging is another means that the Lord has provided to evangelize the world. I for one don't want to waste this opportunity to share the love of Christ worldwide.
Blessings,
Debbie

"Blogging is really God's idea of 21st century body life, connecting faith across digital divides, with the power of words, encouragement, and relevancy.
I can't think of a better way to unleash the power of Christ's love and message through coming together in at Relevant's Women's Blogger's Conference to worship, encourage and share through our faces, our voices, and fellowship."
